SOYBEAN CRUSH & BIODIESEL PLANT EVE, MISSOURI

Lightowler Johnson Associates provided architectural, mechanical, structural, electrical, civil engineering and land surveying services for this plant. This 2,500 ton per day soybean crush facility is expandable to 3,000 tons per day. The plant is designed to produce 30 million gallons of bio-diesel per year.

LJA designed an on-site water treatment facility which uses wastewater from a community 7 miles away. It produces 240 gallons per minute, which is used in the crush and bio-diesel process.

Over 7,000 track feet of railroad design was included to provide infrastructure to the plant.

SOYBEAN CRUSH PLANT
BREWSTER, MINNESOTA

Lightowler Johnson Associates was the lead engineer for this expandable 3,000 ton per day soybean processing plant. The plant has been designed to allow expansion to 4,200 tons per day with limited disruption of the existing structures. This plant is the result of several years of planning by the Minnesota Soybean Processors (MnSP) a farmer cooperative, and the South Dakota Soybean Processors (SDSP).

LJA was responsible for mechanical engineering, civil engineering and architectural design and performed partial design for electrical and structural engineering. The project includes receiving, preparation, extraction, boilerhouse and pumphouse, office/shop/lab building, underground utilities, surface grading and paving, high-risk fire protection, meal loadout, meal silos, water treatment plant, water transmission pipeline, and railroad spur addition.

SOYBEAN CRUSH PLANT
VOLGA, SOUTH DAKOTA

Lightowler Johnson Associates was the lead design engineer and construction manager for this expandable 1,500 ton per day soybean processing plant. This project was completed using a fast-track design method. The results exceeded all expectations, both in quality of construction and overall design-build time frame.

The project included extraction, preparation and stem generation buildings, meal storage and loadout systems, truck and rail grain receiving and storage systems, short and long-term oil storage and rail loadout system, high-risk fire protection, site preparation and underground utilities, electrical power, lighting and automation design, laboratory and auxiliary buildings and scales.
