HEAD START FACILITY
ST. JOHN, NORTH DAKOTA

LJA worked closely with the staff of the existing Head Start in St. John, the overall area director, and designated Tribal entities to develop a new facility that would meet the needs of the program. The 4,988 sq. ft. building utilized wood frame construction with standard concrete footing/foundation, slab on grade, steel siding with a split face CMU wainscot, large windows, and wood trusses with an asphalt shingle roof. The facility includes an office, conference room, library, supply storage, commercial kitchen, laundry/mechanical room, two classrooms – one of which also combines with a motor skills room to provide opportunities for larger meetings and parent nights, and necessary toilet facilities with fixtures sized for both adults and small children.
